What's Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD)
line

National Coating Technology is proud of our state of the art PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating technologies.

How it works:

All material to be coated is enclosed in a vacuum  chamber.  This chamber is then gently heated to a specific temperature.  Deposition material such as titanium is vaporized by means of an electric arc.  These now highly charged titanium ions are mixed with a nitrogen gas forming a plasma.  This positively charged titanium plasma is attracted to the negatively charged part to be coated.  Ion by Ion, the titanium bonds to the part, growing a thin, hard film on the surface.

By altering the temperature, mix of gasses and elements that form the plasma, National Coating Technology has developed a broad range of coatings.  Each coating has been designed with specific performance benefits, so that we can offer coating options for the broadest possible range of applications.
