Chromium Nitride (CrN) Coating
line

Designed to perform under conditions of high load. This single phase coating has a very low residual  stress level, resulting in the best adhesion and ductility of any of the PVD coatings. These characteristics allow this coating to be applied thicker and still maintain it's ductility and hardness values without chipping or flaking during use. This combination of adhesion, hardness, and  lubricity makes this the perfect coating for drawing medium and heavy gauge materials.

Form, roll & shearing die. Tool madie of D2 material. Workpiece of .063" thick cold roll steel, w/water soluble lubricant. Uncoated tool made 400,00 parts, and could not be reworked due to wear. TiN coated tool made 450,000 parts, was reworked and produced another 450,000 parts. CrN coated tool had no visible wear after 1,300,000 parts!
